TLC looking at North Grand building for possible relocation

Charles City, Iowa –  The Learning Center in Charles City is likely to have a new home after discussions between TLC and the Charles City School District Monday night.

Board of Directors President Shirley Kelly says relocating to the 500 North Grand Building provides new opportunities for students.

TLC could move in less than a year according to Kelly.  The group would occupy six rooms, restrooms an office space in the 1970’s portion of the building.

The group has been at their current location for 20 years and they’re running out of space.  TLC fosters development for children from six weeks to 5th grade.

Kelly says the move will give them more space for more students, a gym and opportunities for integration in the school system.

Board Member Missy Freund approves of the relocation and says TLC is an asset to the community.

Superintendent Mike Fisher says, this is a beneficial partnership.

TLC’s next step is to meet with an architect to gain an idea about the cost of making the space suitable to their needs and a timeline will then be finalized.

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City. As a young kid, he would always be caught singing along to songs on the radio. He says he's good at karaoke but we think otherwise. ;) In his free time, he enjoys beginning new projects at home and hardly ever finishing them. Chris lives in Charles City with his wife Vicki, daughter Brynlee and son Jaxon.
