The Score Sheet: Molstead inks future with Wartburg, Drake Relay tickets going fast

Charles City Senior Jackson Molstead officially signed his letter of intent Tuesday morning to future his basketball career at Wartburg College.

Molstad helped lead Charles City to 14-8 record and back-to-back substate final appearances.  He averaged 29 points per game this season.

In an interview with North Iowa Sports earlier this year, Comet Basketball Coach Ben Klapperich praised Molstead’s dedication.

Molstead became the all-time leading scorer this year finishing with 1,821 points and 559 assists. He was a McDonald’s All-American nominee, four-time first team NEIC All-conference and all-district.

Officials report brisk ticket sales leading up to this week’s Drake Relays. Meet director Blake Boldon says ticket sales always pick up after the start lists are announced.

Boldon says Saturday’s session is heading toward a 54th straight sellout and the weather forecast has a lot to do with when that happens.

He says there are still tickets remaining for Saturday and the best way to get them is online.

While the weather is something they cannot control it does make everything better when it cooperates.

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City. As a young kid, he would always be caught singing along to songs on the radio. He says he's good at karaoke but we think otherwise. ;) In his free time, he enjoys beginning new projects at home and hardly ever finishing them. Chris lives in Charles City with his wife Vicki, daughter Brynlee and son Jaxon.
