Rescheduled storm spotter training to be held in Mitchell County

Storm reports help improve forecasts and prompt warnings

Osage, Iowa – It’s fitting for Mother Nature to force storm spotter training to be rescheduled from its original date in April to tomorrow night.

According to meteorologist Dave Lawrence, you can stay weather aware by becoming a trained weather spotter.

The National Weather Service is holding a SKYWARN Serve Weather Spotter Training near Osage tomorrow at the Mitchell County Conservation Building at 6:30.

Lawrence says you’ll learn basic meteorology.

He says they rely on storm reports to not only prompt warnings, but to improve everyday forecasts.
