USDA reminding producers of approaching deadlines

Soybean checkoff vote and weather damaged conservaiton program deadlines are less than a month away

New Hampton, Iowa – The USDA office is reminding producers of May and July deadlines regarding the soybean referendum and emergency conservation programs.

According to The Executive Director of the Chickasaw County USDA Ron Pethoud, the referendum is known as the soybean check off.

He said producers have a vote in order to vote on the referendum in one year.

Pethoud says other deadlines to remember are for assistance within the emergency conservation program, which is from weather-related damage.

You can apply by May 31.

The USDA recently announced another sign up for producers who were affected by snow melt from March 9-31st.

Removing debris, reshaping farmland, restoring fences and other structures are eligible.

He tells North Iowa News producers cannot fix the damage otherwise there won’t be reimbursement.

The deadline to apply for assistance is July 1.
