NAMI North Iowa to start second family support group for mental illness

Demand after first group pushed the group to create second session

Mason City, Iowa – May is mental health awareness month and in conjunction with it, the National Alliance on Mental Illness North Iowa is launching its second family support group.

NAMI North Iowa announced Wednesday it will be holding a monthly support group every third Tuesday of every month.

The 60-90 minutes group is for adult friends, family members and caregivers of people with mental health conditions.  Participants must be 18 years and older. The group is not for anyone who has a mental illness.

The session is being held at First Congregational United Church of Christ at 100 1st St NE in Mason City from 6-7 pm.

NAMI North Iowa is a non-profit organization providing support, education and advocacy on behalf of individuals and families affected by mental illness.
