Charles City Police Department promotes bicycle safety with rodeo

Charles City, Iowa – The Charles City Police Department is putting a spin on rodeo, bicycle style.

Police officers will be holding the 2019 Bicycle Safety Rodeo on Saturday morning from 10 until 1 at 500 N. Grand, which is the old middle school parking lot, according to Officer Duane Ollendick.


Students Kindergarten through 5th grade can bring their bicycles to participate in the course which promotes safe riding and practices.


Ollendick added fee helmets and bikes will be available.  Drawings will be at 12:30 and you don’t have to be present to win.


The rain date is Sunday from 1 pm to 3 pm.
