requested a tow. The crew arrived at 12th and N. Illinois Avenue and found a 2005 Ford Freestar covered under trees and brush.

According to police, they contacted the owner 27-year-old Sherry Ritter of Mason City.  She told law enforcement she lost control of her car and went off the road.  An investigation determined the vehicle left the roadway at a high rate of speed, snapped an Alliant Energy pole guide wire and cleared several downed trees.  The vehicle

came to rest in standing water north of 12th and Illinois Avenue.

Police reported no skid marks were located and undisturbed ground clutter shows the vehicle was airborne.  Several local and state agencies assisted in the investigation to determine environmental impacts.  If you have any information, contact Mason City Police.
