One dead, one injured after truck lands in Dollar General parking lot

Sumner, Iowa – A Fredericksburg man is dead and another person is injured after the vehicle he was driving ended up in a Dollar General parking lot in Sumner.

The Iowa State Patrol says 75-year-old Larry Goodwin of Fredericksburg crossed the center line just after 9:30 Sunday night on Highway 93.  He entered the ditch, hit an embankment at Lifeline Drive before his truck became airborne and landed in the parking lot next to a light pole.

Goodwin’s passenger, Audrey Goodwin, 67, wore her seat belt and was injured. She was transported to Allen Hospital.  Her condition is unknown.

Authorities report Larry Goodwin did not wear his seat belt.
