MercyOne’s 3D mammography machine operational thanks to community generosity

New Hampton, Iowa – MercyOne New Hampton’s 3D mammography campaign is almost to the finish line.  All the hospital needs is you!

Public Relations Director Jenny Monteith says the machine became operational after tests and installation this week.

A 3D mammography exam finds 41 percent more invasive cancers versus 2D mammography.  It also increased accurate outcome for recalls at 49 percent.

Montieth says the investment for women’s health needed $100,000 to order it and the community raised $180,000.

She added there two ways for women to get an exam.
