Recent garage breakins putting homeowners, businesses on alert

Charles City, Iowa – Garage break-ins have been reported in Charles City recently where a handful of items were taken in each location.

Lori Otto who owns Otto’s Oasis told North Iowa News both her home and the business were broken into.

The thief opened a window in their garage at the residence and took $200-$300 worth of tools.

Otto says they were also broken into  August of 2018, marking the third time in the last year.

There have been other breakins reported on social media, but Police Captain Brandon Frankie says they only had one report over the weekend.

He recommends locking everything.

And Otto would recommend doing the same.

She said they’ve upgraded cameras at the store and at home and added locks.

If you see any suspicious activity Franke said call the police immediately at 257-3366.
