$1.2M bridge project making headway, Officials to begin fundraising efforts this summer

The Charlie Western Trail Bridge project is slowly progressing as Charles City Officials wait on the DNR and Army Corps of Engineer to complete additional work on replacement of the bridge.

City Administrator Steve Diers says meanwhile, the City has been applying for grants to fund the approximately 1.2-million-dollar project.

The bridge originally collapsed in 2017, Diers says the bridge is an integral part of the City’s trail system.

Diers adds that they plan to bid out the project this winter, with construction beginning next summer.

Completion is expected in the spring of 2021.
