Spamalot coming to Charles City with four shows

Charles City, Iowa – Monty Python’s Spamalot, a musical comedy based on a 1975 film, is coming to Charles City for the next four days.

Stony Point Players is presenting the Monty Python and the Holy Grail spinoff.

Larry Michehl plays King Arthur.

Four performances begin Thursday night at 7 p.m. with other showings Friday and Saturday including an afternoon Sunday matinee at 2 p.m. at the North grand Auditorium.

Michehl says the cast consists of 40 characters with varying ages of young and old.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $5 for students with reserved seating.  Advanced tickets are available at or at the door.

He added an acquaintance convinced him to try out acting for the part.

Michehl says parts of the performance can be weird, but it’s worth taking in.

If you’re wondering where the name comes a 2004 press release says a line in the  movie goes: “we eat ham, jam and Spam a lot.”

Chris Berg

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City. As a young kid, he would always be caught singing along to songs on the radio. He says he's good at karaoke but we think otherwise. ;) In his free time, he enjoys beginning new projects at home and hardly ever finishing them. Chris lives in Charles City with his wife Vicki, daughter Brynlee and son Jaxon.
