One officer injured after foot chase in Mason City

Mason City, Iowa – Mason City police officer is injured after an altercation with a suspect Monday afternoon.

Police say two officers were serving an arrest warrant 4:30 Monday afternoon when a vehicle approached their location. Its passenger, 21-year-old Josh Teeter, of Mason City fled on foot and officers chased after him.

One of the officers encountered Teeter near a building and Teeter surrendered.  The officer was unable to avoid contact with Teeter and impacted a building.  Teeter was taken into custody without further incident.  The officer suffered a broken bone in his elbow from the collision.

The officer was treated and released from Mery One North Iowa and won’t be working for several weeks.

Officials report Teeter was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant for probation violation.  He was than charged with several misdemeanors including interference with official acts resulting in bodily injury.
