Struggles continue trying to get country roads on track

Charles City, Iowa – Chickasaw and Floyd County Engineer Dusty Rolando says it’s the first time in his career where he’s seen road conditions as bad as this years.

Rolando gave an update on road conditions at Tuesday’s Floyd County Board of Supervisors meeting.

According to Rolando, the department began adding rock to roads in Chickasaw County, but waiting to start the process in Floyd County.

He says when they think they’ve made progress, they’ve started over.

He added crews have gotten stuck on roads he never thought they would, but they continue to work on the roads the best they can.

He added other work is on schedule and Lancer Avenue from Osage into Floyd County plans to be open today.

Floyd and Chickasaw County both approved his contract with a 2.5 percent increase in salary and four weeks vacation.

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City. As a young kid, he would always be caught singing along to songs on the radio. He says he's good at karaoke but we think otherwise. ;) In his free time, he enjoys beginning new projects at home and hardly ever finishing them. Chris lives in Charles City with his wife Vicki, daughter Brynlee and son Jaxon.
