Charles City, Iowa – City officials are tackling one major project after another in Charles City.
Council members gave approval Monday night for final design plans for the Charley Western Trail Bridge.
City Administrator Steve Diers says the new bridge will be lower than the older one.
Despite the changes in height Diers added the span will be able to accommodate emergency situations.
The designs call for bump outs for people to stop and fish, light and a commemorative railing,
Design costs with the project’s engineer Calhoun Burns won’t exceed $64,000.
Diers added the goal is to start construction in the spring.
