Minor damage reported after garage fire in Charles City

Charles City, Iowa – A garage in Charles City sustained minor damage after a fire started underneath the siding and sheeting Wednesday afternoon.

The Charles City Fire Department says they received a report just before 2 p.m. for a residence at 103 Spriggs Street owned by Keith Dykstra.  When they arrived, smoke was visible from one side of the garage, but after looking inside, there were no signs of a fire.

After removing sheeting and siding, firefighters found the blaze and distinguished it in 15 minutes. According to a release, the garage received minor fire and water damage.

No injuries were reported.
