The Score Sheet: Chickasaw baseball makes history, Comets win dramatic quarterfinal

History in Wavelry last night as the seventh-rated New Hampton Chickasaw baseball team is going to state.

New Hampton dumped Oelwein 4-2 inluding a four-run fifth inning.

Senior Keegan Kane went the distance on 87 pitches, gave up five hits, two runs, one earned and collected six strikeouts.

Wyatt Stochl led the Chickasaw attack with three RBIs.

New Hampton plays Monday.  The pairings haven’t been released.

South Winneshiek has booked their ticket to Principal Park in Des Moines after beating Saint Ansgar 7-1.  Noah Tieskoetter grabs the win going four innings on the mound, collecting a strikeout and giving up four hits and a run.  Jaron Todd had two RBIs.

Drama in Fort Dodge yesterday as the third-ranked Charles City Comet Softball team trailed heading into the final frame and used a walk-off walk to beat Dallas Center Grimes 4-3 in the quarterfinals of the state tournament.
