Charles City, Iowa – As the sun gets hotter, blood donations slow down country-wide and locally for Red Cross. Blood Drive Coordinator Lilly Usher, says the sun is heavily correlated to seasonal blood donations.
Usher and the Red Cross try to use the summer conditions to counteract the shortage.
Cancer patients make up the bulk of the need for blood, and during the summer is when the hospitals need it the most.
