Nashua’s Little Brown Church set to celebrate milestones

Nashua, Iowa –Nashua’s Little Brown Church is celebrating two milestones this weekend, which attracts people from all corners of the country while the other is a little more personal.

Jessie Boatright is the pastor’s wife and says Sunday marks the 67th marriage reunion.

The two-day event begins with the pastor’s retreat Saturday night.  Sunday features a worship service at 10:15 followed by food, fun and games all day long.  Included in the service is vow renewals.

It’s been a long tradition since 1864, according to Boatright, who says vows have been exchanged more than 76,00 times.

She says the popularity is credited to William Pitz’s song called “The Little Brown Church and the Veil.”

The Church is also celebrating a milestone with its Pastor Drew McHolm who are marking their one year anniversary in Nashua.

Boatright says her and her husband didn’t make plants to stay, but the community had other plans for them.

The Little Brown Church is located on the northeast side of Nashua.   Contact them with any questions about this weekend.

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City. As a young kid, he would always be caught singing along to songs on the radio. He says he's good at karaoke but we think otherwise. ;) In his free time, he enjoys beginning new projects at home and hardly ever finishing them. Chris lives in Charles City with his wife Vicki, daughter Brynlee and son Jaxon.
