Alliant Energy gives grants for trees

Rudd, Iowa – Thirty-nine Iowa communities will soon be a little bit greener thanks to $105,000 in tree-planting grants from Alliant Energy and Trees Forever’s Branching Out partnership.

The Northeast Iowa town of Calmar received almost $3,000 for trees planted at Northeast Iowa Community College.  Rudd used $1,000 for more shrubbery at the campground and Mason City used their $5,000 for street trees.

According to company officials, the grants help replace trees destroyed by the emerald ash borer or by storms.  This is the 29th year for the program.
