Dallas Center man surrendered in standoff with CCPD, law enforcement

Charles City, Iowa – A four-hour standoff Saturday morning in Charles City has landed a Dallas Center man in jail after allegedly committing an assault.

The Charles City Police Department says they responded to an assault call before 1 a.m. in the 100 block of 13th Avenue.  Officers found the victim left the apartment, but the suspect, 26-year-old Kaleb Wright, refused to come out.

Around 5 a.m., Wright surrendered to law enforcement.

Police called the Narcotics Task Force – Special Operations Group tactical team who assisted with the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office, the Iowa State Patrol and AMR.

Wright is being charged with assault with a dangerous weapon.
