Local business using fitness to honor, remember 9/11 attacks

Charles City, Iowa – A Charles City business is combining fitness and the anniversary of the September 11 attacks to honor those who served our country.

Janae Ferch who works at Snap Fitness says you can use their climbing machines to climb the equivalent of 110 stories – the amount first responders climbed in the twin towers.

You do have the option to wear first responder gear or not.

Ferch says it’s a way for people to stay healthy and honor those who gave their life 18 years ago – that’s the same reason for Sheree Watson’s climb.

Watson said she trained for the challenge and is glad she did because it was “intense.”

Competitors are given a shirt for completing the mission. Area law enforcement agencies have participated in the challenge too.

Chris Berg

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City. As a young kid, he would always be caught singing along to songs on the radio. He says he's good at karaoke but we think otherwise. ;) In his free time, he enjoys beginning new projects at home and hardly ever finishing them. Chris lives in Charles City with his wife Vicki, daughter Brynlee and son Jaxon.
