Charles City – Carrie Lane Chapman Catt is said to be one of the most influential suffrage figures in United States history and as you may know, she grew up in Charles City. Tomorrow is National Voter Registration Day in the country and schools in the area can get awarded the Carrie Chapman Catt Award if over 90% of their 17 and 18 year olds are registered to vote. That is what Floyd Commissioner of Elections Gloria Carr has made her main focus.
Carr says that getting these surrounding schools to strive for this award has been hit or miss.
During the day tomorrow, Carr hopes to get the word out in many different channels.
To register to vote, you can visit the Floyd County Courthouse located at 201 South Main.
