IDOT releases designs for Charley Western Trail Bridge

Charles City, Iowa – The Iowa Department of Transportation has released the preliminary plans and designs for the reconstruction of Charles City’s Charley Western Trail Bridge.

City Administrator Steve Diers says the design reveals new aspects as well as the old ones.

According to Diers, the city is targeting a $1.2 million cost, but they don’t know an exact number until the estimates are released in late October.

Just as the old bridge did, it will connect both sides of town.

Bids will be sent out in January and Diers says a fundraiser will soon begin to help foot the bill.

Construction would start soon after and is estimated at a year.

He says he's good at karaoke but we think otherwise. ;) In his free time, he enjoys beginning new projects at home and hardly ever finishing them. Chris lives in Charles City with his wife Vicki, daughter Brynlee and son Jaxon.
