CCADC purchases certified site, process heads into final stages

Charles City, Iowa – An agreement has been reached between the city of Charles City and the area development corporation to purchase 75 acres worth nearly two million dollars to become the area’s next certified site.

CCADC Director Tim Fox says this is a valuable addition to the community.

City officials tell North Iowa News the acquisition shouldn’t cost taxpayers anything due to current tax increment financing already in place.

Fox says the next steps are to have an official wetland jurisdiction declaration, investigate wildlife habitats and market the site via a website.

The site is located on the east side of Gilbert Street and north of the Highway 218 overpass.

Once the site is certified, Fox says they’ll begin researching potential clients.

Official site certification is expected by the end of November.
