Charles City Rotary Club collect 150,000 pounds of scrap

The Charles City Rotary Club was all over town between October 5th and 12th during its annual Scrap Metal Fundraiser. This was the first year during the event, the Rotarians offered to pick up your scrap directly from your houses, and the requests flooded in.

After collecting nearly 150,000 pounds of hosh-posh items like TVs, lawnmowers, and satellite dishes, Chris Garden and the club started to realize the intent of the fundraiser might have shifted.

Garden says none of this would have been possible without the trailers donated by Chautauqua Guest Home and Denny Tynan of Denny’s Recycling. Tynan enjoyed the overall experience of the event.
