Black Sheep Coffee Baa in Greene awarded one of the best bakeries in the country

The Pub at the Pinicon in New Hampton recently won an award for the best breaded tenderloin sandwich in the state. Following in that vein, we can add another feather to North Iowa’s food and beverage cap, as the Black Sheep Coffee Baa in Greene just received an award for one of the best full-line bakeries in the entire country. The award was given as apart of the Sweetest Bakery in America contest and owner Connie Debner, held an open house at the shop on Friday to celebrate.

The Black Sheep opened a little over 4 years ago in Greene and started as just a coffee shop – a failing one at that. Debner was inches from closing the place before a better slot opened up, the problem was, it was too expensive. That’s when the owner of the spot, Clayton, made her a generous offer that saved her business.

So, the Black Sheep became a bakery and a beloved part of Greene. Debner, gives all the glory to God.
