Floyd County Medical Center seeks Iowa Code change to ensure hospital stays put

Another proposal being voted on today is whether the Floyd County Medical Center will be able to transition from a Chapter 37 to a Chapter 347 in the Iowa code. This change will allow FCMC to levy taxes and hold elections for a board, just like 95% of the other county hospitals in the state. Mayor Dean Andrews, says healthcare is vitally important.

The new status would cost Floyd County residents $33.45 more each year. Paul Royer, an MD with Family Medicine says, “I have enjoyed being a family medicine physician to generations of Floyd County residents since 1981. I believe it is important for us to provide support for our wonderful rural hospital. Please VOTE YES on November 5th.”

FCMC urges voters to, “Vote yes to keep your health care close to home.”
