Comet Field upgraded lighting approved by school board

Musco Lighting has been good to the Charles City school system – having donated the entire baseball and softball complex lighting system. Another Musco illumination project is in the works for Comet Field. Mike Fisher, superintendent of schools says the current fixtures are past due.

The new lights proposed will be LED and be carried by metal poles. The school board approved the lease purchase at a meeting on November 11 that will cost $238,400, repaid over a five-year span. Fisher says the wood holding the current lights spells trouble as well.

The new lights will be remote controlled, brighter, and more energy efficient.
