Charles City city council approves purchase of broadband center location

At times this broadband project seemed to be moving in slow motion – but in this last month, the Charles City city council has approved the creation of a utility board. And now, the location of the data center is most likely going to be 808 North Main Street, where Cal’s Auto Repair is currently sitting.

Wiring is slated to begin in the spring, and with fingers-crossed, the board predicts in 12 months time, the center will be offering services to the community.

The location’s option still needs to be used, which will then cost the city $170,000 for the property.
