Passing buses can result in huge consequences

Seeing red or yellow flashing lights behind a school bus means you cannot pass it. According to Tom Williams of the Iowa State Patrol, much of Chickasaw and Howard County is having trouble understanding this idea.

Williams warns drivers that not only is it dangerous to pass buses for the sake of the children, but it can wrack up huge consequences for the driver.

School has been in for months and Williams says troopers will continue to crack-down on this offense. The bus law does state that you may pass a school bus if the yellow lights are flashing, but only if you are going 20 MPH or slower.
