Matilda the Musical, focuses on a 5-year-old troublemaker with telekinetic powers. Ronald Dahl’s adapted novel is fresh off a long-stint on Broadway, and is slated as the Mason City Stebens Children’s Theater’s next musical epic.
Opening night is tonight at 7 p.m. at Stebens. Director Tom Ballmer says the actress playing Matilda was born to play the role.
The musical titled after the girl whose catchphrase is, “I’m a girl!” is, according to Ballmer, going to showcase some constant magic.
