Luella Pagel, 95, Grafton

Luella Pagel, age 95, of Grafton, passed Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 17, 2019, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Grafton with Pastor Solveig A.H. Zamzow officiating. Interment will be in the Grafton Cemetery. Following the services, the family will greet friends in the church fellowship hall.

Luella Mae Pagel was born on May 14, 1924 to Lawrence and Matie (Rieck) Boettcher on the Boettcher family farm east of Grafton. She was baptized on June 8, 1924 and was confirmed on April 10, 1938, both in the Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Luella attended country school at Barton #3. On December 13, 1942 she was united in marriage to George A. Pagel. She and George raised a family and crops on their farm near Grafton. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, and researching the family genealogy. She loved to be out in nature any time she could and she was delighted by her garden every spring and summer. She was active in her church and circle and taught Sunday School.

She is survived by her six children, Phyllis (Glenn) Ahlf, Janice (Jerry) Hackbart, Larry Pagel, Sherry (Don) Wieland, Betty (Paul) Skram and Jane (Mike) Connor; 12 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George A. Pagel, in 1991 and her parents, Lawrence and Matie Boettcher.

Chris Berg

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City. As a young kid, he would always be caught singing along to songs on the radio. He says he's good at karaoke but we think otherwise. ;) In his free time, he enjoys beginning new projects at home and hardly ever finishing them. Chris lives in Charles City with his wife Vicki, daughter Brynlee and son Jaxon.
