Presidential candidate Julian Castro drops-out of race days before visit to Charles City

Presidential candidate Julian Castro was preparing to make a routine pit-stop in Charles City this Sunday for campaign purposes. However, his camp just released a tweet that read:

“It’s with profound gratitude to all of our supporters that I suspend my campaign for president today.

I’m so proud of everything we’ve accomplished together. I’m going to keep fighting for an America where everyone counts—I hope you’ll join me in that fight.”

Castro was the youngest member of former President Barrack Obama’s cabinet and served as the 16th United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development until 2017.

The event was going to take place at the Saint Charles Brewing Co. on Main Street.

Castro was polling on the lower-end of the spectrum – hovering around 1 percent of the democratic vote-of-confidence.
