Osage alumni heads to Kenya to help teach business course

According to the Globe Gazette, a team including a 1980 Osage High School graduate, Patrick Johanns, is traveling to Kenya to teach women about business. This will hopefully help them escape from sexual exploitation.

Women needing fish for their families in Africa are sometimes asked for sexual favors in order to secure their family’s dinner. This has spread HIV and AIDS in the area. The members of the University of Iowa based team, will provide women a one-week course to help them recognize better traders and healthier transactions.

Johanns, graduated from Osage and went on to earn his BS, MBA, and PHD from Iowa. He currently works as an associate professor for the university.
