When Lidd and Cordray’s longtime owner Mike Lidd put the ‘for sale’ sign out on his store in 2019, Charles City residents were worried about the growing desertion of Main Street. But hope remained that the space would sell in a timely manner, and bring healthy growth back to downtown.
Confirmed by Lidd, Parson Real Estate has sold the Main Street location. In fact, Lidd accepted an offer over a month and a half ago. Specifics on the sale are currently under lock-and-key, but Lidd did affirm that locals should be happy.
Meanwhile, Lidd and Cordray was one of the only traditional Main Street businesses left gracing the strip.
Rumors started swirling immediately about the sold sign. Locals are married to the idea that one day Main Street will again be buzzing with clothing stores, knick-knack shops, and bakeries. According to Mayor Dean Andrews, Chuck Townians shouldn’t be holding their breath.
Lidd reaffirmed that the news will be positive for the city, but opted to not take away their shining moment.
