Joyce Hinz, 78, Charles City

Joyce Hinz, 78, of Charles City, passed away peacefully surrounded by family Saturday, February 01, 2020 in New Hampton.

A funeral service for Joyce Hinz will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City with Pastor Dan Larson officiating. Lunch and fellowship to follow shortly after funeral services. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Charles City.

Visitation will be held at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 4, 2020 as well as one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.

Joyce was born on October 11, 1941, the daughter of John Dahlen and Gladys Derganz in New Hampton, Iowa.

Joyce graduated with the class of 1959 in New Hampton, Iowa. She married Dale Hinz June 16th, 1973 in Janesville, Iowa. Prior to this she was married to Harold Brincks of Decorah, Iowa. Being a long time resident of Charles City, Iowa, she served her community as a real estate broker establishing her own business “Hinz Real Estate” in 1981 and was a member of the National Association of Realtors. Passionate about her work, she loved assisting Iowa farmers in achieving their goals. Joyce worked continuously until a year before her death showing her commitment to serving her community. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed discovering new places while traveling.

She is survived by her daughter, Paula Givens of Ames, Iowa; her son, Jason Brincks of Charles City, Iowa; grandchildren, Mike Givens of Englewood, Colorado and Rachael Givens of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; brother, Gene Dahlen and sister in law Barbara Dahlen of Waterloo, Iowa; nephew, Mark Dahlen; and niece, Melissa Dawson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Dale Hinz.

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City. As a young kid, he would always be caught singing along to songs on the radio. He says he's good at karaoke but we think otherwise. ;) In his free time, he enjoys beginning new projects at home and hardly ever finishing them. Chris lives in Charles City with his wife Vicki, daughter Brynlee and son Jaxon.
