Gov. Kim Reynolds to speak in Waverly today

Newspaper clippings are stuffed to the nines with politics in the year leading up to a presidential election – this year is no different.  In that vein, Gov. Kim Reynolds is planning to visit a couple of Iowa towns over the next few days to speak about her proposed ‘Invest in Iowa Act’.

Reynolds will be in Waverly tonight at 3 p.m. at the East Bremer Diner. The act she will discuss proposes that the state’s sales tax be increased by a penny in order to fund the National Resources Trust Fund and help with mental health services.

A byproduct of this act will also theoretically pay for a cut in Iowa’s state income tax.
