Charles City Mayor: 2020 Census ‘a big deal’ for area

The last time the Census was taken in Charles City was April 1st, 2010 – also known as Census Day. The Census indication was that Chuck Town was harboring 7,652 people. This is estimated to be considerably lower going into the 2020 Census Day. Mayor Dean Andrews doesn’t want a single local to go unchecked.

The Census encourages Americans to participate in the survey online. If a local forgets to check-in the Census company will be getting in touch with that person – and eventually coming to their home. Andrews says people should not worry about the online service taking too-personal information.

Census Day is April 1st, but people can still check-in much later than that date. The results of the Census will not be released until the second quarter of 2021.
