Charles City teen airlifted to Mayo after car accident

According to multiple sources, a Charles City teen was airlifted to St. Mary’s Hospital-Mayo Clinic after a two-vehicle accident on Tuesday.

17-year-old, Charles City resident Leo Trebbien, was driving his 1995 Jeep Wrangler at 5:17 p.m. at 300th Avenue and Victory Avenue, when he failed to stop for a stop sign and was broadside swiped by 41-year-old Clarksville resident Andrew Hauser’s 2011 Chevy Silverado.

Trebbien’s Jeep was propelled into a ditch and hit an embankment. Hauser’s Chevy was hauling a trailer full of hay – his vehicle went into the same ditch and the trailer disconnected and flipped over.

The Iowa State Patrol says Hauser was taken to Waverly Health Center; and both lives were saved due to both drivers wearing seat belts.
