Today, March 13th, is the last day you can file for state office election

Those seeking to be elected as state senators or representatives need to act quickly. Today, at 5 p.m. is the final day one can self-nominate themselves to be a House or Senate candidate in the November election – same deadline goes for the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Reps race.

Todd Prichard, the current Iowa House district 52 representative (the district that includes Floyd, Chickasaw, and Cerro Gordo counties) has filed for the nomination and is the only democrat on the ticket as of now. Prichard has been reelected for this position three times.

His competition?

Craig A. Clark of Rockford filed as a Republican – and attorney, Charles Thompson, aslo  Republican.

The Iowa Senate District 26 race (which includes Floyd, Chickasaw, Howard, Mitchell, Worth, Cerro Gordo, and Winneshiek counties), only Waylon Brown a Republican out of St. Ansgar has seeked the nomination – he is also the incumbent.

Carter Melrose

Carter bullied his way onto the KCHA radio waves after spending 4 years at the University of Iowa as a studying journalist. He writes news, short stories, features, but more than anything, he has a proclivity to wax philosophically.
