Charles City teacher and parent: “strike balance between ‘academics’ and ’emotional support'”

Parents are all relatively worried about the same question: ‘During the pandemic, is my child’s brain going to turn to mush?’ And Charles City science teacher and parent Phoebe Pittman wants to reassure the community that since most kids have a lot more schooling to go, the teachers should be able to pick up the 2020 slack.

Pittman says her household isn’t full-on home schooling at this point. Instead, they are attempting to create small growth every single day.

She is slowing into the learning – which she alludes might ramp up soon – so the time won’t feel like a traumatic bunker child situation.

Again, Pittman believes the children will be more than fine. But, she doesn’t think the kids are going to be back in school in April.
