Pandemic aside, Main Street Drug in Charles City is officially open

Main Street Drug on Main Street in Charles City held a hush-hush grand opening to their store on April 1st to adhere to all the social distancing guidelines that have been pumped down the pipeline. As businesses are shutting down operations all over Iowa, Charles City’s new pharmacy is just getting started.

Owner and former pharmacy director at KMart Cindy Uetz says having to open during a pandemic has been odd for her and she promises to throw together an official grand opening party when the dust finally settles.

Uetz says she chose the Main Street location specifically – the old Lidd and Cordray location spoke to her. Though, morphing a clothing store into a pharmacy was a sweet and sour experience.

Main Street has garnered negative attention over the last couple of years; headlined by the McQuillen Place standing unfinished in its heart. Uetz believes in the future of the street. Even more so, she believes in Charles City.
