Charles City’s influx of broadband internet speeds are riding on schedule. Mayor Dean Andrews says the broadband commission met last week and finalized the business plan for the fiber-to-home project. The plan suggests the broadband utility will be completely self sufficient and will not need to lean on taxpayer dollars for longevity.
Andrews predicts fiber in the dirt in three months or less.
For those who don’t want the broadband, they will not need or be obligated to sign up and pay for it. Though, in late summer, Andrews expects a sign up to float around Charles City – with the first customers receiving service in December of this year.
