Back in March, Harrison Sheckler, a former Comet and a current music student at Brooklyn College in New York City, told KCHANews he was going to create and mix a virtual choir for the song ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’. He assumed maybe 50 people would participate and it would be something fun to do during the shared quarantine.
Cut to a month later and the song is out and Sheckler’s video well-over 100,000 views on YouTube. The finishing product stars over 300 musicians from Iowa, the United States, and 14 other countries.
Out of all the over 300 participants, one was former Comet Choir Director Bradley Beal. Though, the list goes much wider than that.
A huge submission hot-spot came from the United Kingdom, as they had a special connection to the calming anthem.
At first, Sheckler thought the virtual choir was merely going to be a small way for musicians to collaborate during a chaotic time – it overshot that preconception by a mile.
