Cedar Falls radio station wins national award

KCVM FM, a radio station out of Cedar Falls and owned by Coloff Media, recently won a national award for its continued contributions to its community.

The National Association of Broadcasters gives out Crystal Radio Awards each year to deserving stations in the country that ‘demonstrate a commitment to outstanding public service’. Since KCVM was able to nab 5 of these Crystal awards over the years, they were automatically given the prestigious Heritage Crystal Award this year – an accolade that only 9 other stations in the entire country have received.

Owner of the station Jim Coloff says since his mission in radio is to serve the community, it is special to receive this specific award.

Operations Manager Bob Westerman says he is most proud of the station’s yearly charity trips to Disney World.

In terms of honors, Coloff says this is his crowning jewel.

Coloff Media owns radio stations in Forest City, Britt, Mason City, Charles City, New Hampton, Cedar Falls and Manchester.
