The Floyd County Courthouse is eyeing a couple of reopening dates. According to Supervisor Roy Schwickerath, one of these is June 1st, as the June 2nd Iowa primary for the congressional district and senate will be held on that day.
Many locals are excited for the courthouse to reopen. Schwickerath believes the courthouse is fully serving the public – and says the community might just miss the convenience of walking right into the building.
Schwickerath says the court systems are aiming at June 15th to allow their procedures to recommence. He says it would be reasonable to think the courthouse would be reopened by June 15th – as foot traffic from defendants, lawyers, and judges will ramp up.
Between June 1st and June 15th, reopening the courthouse will be discussed several times. Schwickerath says he will be closely following the indicators to make sure it is safe.
