The vote is in: no Lion’s Field Pool this summer

The CDC, the Charles City Parks and Recreation board, and several other entities all recommended the Lion’s Field Pool not open this summer – and the noes have it. 

The summer outdoor pool season is lost for Charles Citians.

Monday night, the Charles City city council was given the Park and Rec Director Tyler Mitchell’s presentation on the obstacles for this year and the board voted unanimously to shut it down for the season.

These potential challenges included but were not limited to:

 

The council members and the rest of the decision makers involved, made the final choice keeping one main focus in mind: safety.

 

Mitchell wanted to reassure anybody who many have purchased a 2020 pool pass that their money will not just disappear into a dark hole – as the passes will be eligible to be used all throughout the 2021 pool season.
