No Charles City outdoor pool; Parks and Rec Director talks what the summer might look like for children

With the Lion’s Field Pool closed in Charles City, the summer in town for the kids is going to need to shift. Parks and Rec Director Tyler Mitchell says the community children are going to need to be creative to stay entertained.

Mitchell suggests that the community utilize the parks system and pivot into playing more disc golf, pickleball, and tennis.

Though, most of these are still being hindered by the governmental protocols set by the state.

Hot days in Charles City will be a unique experience. The YMCA pool will surely be a commendation – and with the outdoor pool remained closed all year, many residents worry this will turn children to more river swimming and without the safety net that a lifeguard can provide – it could result in injuries.
