Charles City woman wins free tuition from NIACC in ‘Extreme Makeover’ contest

A Charles City woman is going back to school – and she is going back for free. Local Danielle Vance, is one of two winners in NIACC’s Extreme Makeover: College Edition.

On the website the contest’s description reads:

Are you stuck in a dead-end job? Do you want to get an education while you’re raising a family and working, but don’t know how to pay for it? Would it be fun to take your life in a totally new and different direction? Have you experienced struggles that have prevented you from going back to college? Any of those reasons are examples of who could enter the Extreme Makeover: College Edition contest.”

Vance was announced to be one of the winners last week and will receive:

  1. Free tuition and fees for the 2020/2021 academic year (Fall & Spring Semester).
  2. Free books and course materials.
  3. A variety of NIACC swag.

When asked why she applied in the first place, Vance says a friend gave her the confidence.

Many opportunities and scholarships are available at NIACC for adults interested in returning to school. For more information, contact NIACC Admissions at 641-422-4245.
